What's It About?
The first Tonka truck was built in 1947, in MinneTONKA, Minnesota, which explains the brand name. At this site you can learn fun facts like that, or like this: \"TONKA uses more than 119,000 pounds of yellow paint each year and 5.1 million pounds of sheet metal to make its trucks and construction vehicles.\" You'll also learn about every truck in the Tonka fleet: how much it costs, and what age range enjoys it. You can add it to your \"wish list\" and find out where to buy it. There are coloring book page printables, as well as a couple of games and a selection of e-cards you can send to your friends.
Is It Any Good?
The Tonka fun facts are overshadowed by the excessive marketing. It's too bad the site doesn't choose to enrich that marketing content by explaining what the Tonka Mighty Front Loader actually does on a construction site, and maybe offering a QuickTime movie of one in action.
